Summer in New York City brings out tons of different things. Cute summer dresses, flip flops, shirtless men and sweltering heat to name a few. But last night, Summer brought out something much sexier….FABULOUS CANCER WOMEN! The Diva Lounge event, hosted by media maven Shayna D. and co-hosted by TV/Web personality Amanda Diva, brought out New York’s flyest divas (and a few fly dudes) to The Honey Lounge on West 14th Street in Manhattan to celebrate fabulous Cancer women like my friend Ally from She-blogs.com.
The place was packed from wall to wall with fabulous and successful women. Any man who was in NYC last night and not at The Diva Lounge woke up pissy this morning! After a brief toast to the guests of honor, the ladies in attendance mingled and networked over cocktails and ridiculously yummy cupcakes provided by Tiffany Lee & Megha Rana of Fashion Eats. In between passing out business cards and sneaking treats, guests hit the dance floor to the musical genius of the Honey Lounge’s DJ who kept people on their feet with everything from DJ Khaled to New Edition. Everyone partied the night away and before you knew it another successful Diva Lounge event had come to a close. It was another night of great friends and great fun…can’t wait for the next one!
Special shout out and thanks to The Diva Lounge for another fun night in the big city!

I did go away for college, best years of my life. The learning experience outside of school was priceless. Even the most horrible events made me a better, stronger woman. I’ll look at those sites you suggested and some companies I’ve been thinking of. Thanks D!

Oooh check you out, venturing out *wink*!
I need to relocate BADLY! This place never has any fun events like that…to network and meet folks worth meeting. *Sigh*

LOL….I’m trying! I’m also thinking of relaunching the blog into something else so you’ll probably see more posts like this.
You need to move to NY!! Most of your blog fam is soooo close by, you’d never be bored! Think about it 😉

More and more everyday I’m giving it serious serious thought. It’s just hard to “up and move” throwing away my security! Point me to some good job hunting sites please lol.

Trust me I know! It was hard for me to leave Brooklyn and come across the bridge to Manhattan so I can’t imagine another country! It’s scary, but you have to look at it in terms of adventure. Not sure if you went away to college, but look at it like that. Sure you’re leaving all you’ve ever known, but there is so much adventure to be found where you’re going. New stores, new neighborhoods, new men, new friends, new nights out on the town. And the best part, if you don’t like it…you can always go back home. That’s the best part about having a secure place to leave behind, it’s always there when you need to go back again.
As for jobs, outside of the normal (Monster, HotJobs, Careerbuilder, etc) you can try SimplyHired, Mediabistro, Idealist.org, Craigslist and of course the job boards of whatever company your’re interested in.
